About MovieTwists

MovieTwists breaks down movies with a big twist -- how the reveal works, what it changes, how well it was earned, and how it lands on a second viewing.

MovieTwists is not a review site -- we don't score or critique a film as a whole. Every piece of coverage here is about one specific thing: the twist. How it's built, what it changes about the story once you know it, how fairly it was earned and foreshadowed, and how hard it lands the first time through.

Twists

A Twist is the core article type on MovieTwists -- a discussion of one movie's twist: its mechanics, its impact on the story, how well it was earned, and how shocking it landed. Most Twists carry a Twist Score from 0-10 rating how masterfully the twist itself was executed, which is a separate question from whether the movie is good. Historical retrospectives (like Throwback Thursday) are tribute entries and don't carry a score.

Every Twist opens with spoiler-free writing, then gates the actual reveal behind an in-page control so you can read the setup and stop there if you haven't seen the film yet.

Twist Types

Twist Types classify how a twist works -- an unreliable narrator, a hidden identity, a "dead all along" reveal, and so on -- independent of the movie's genre. Browse by twist type to find every film that pulls off a particular kind of misdirection.

Features

Features are the site's recurring daily coverage -- a different editorial angle each day of the week, from twists that reward a rewatch to twists that didn't land to deep retrospectives on films from decades past.
