Enemy (2013), an English-language adaptation of Jose Saramago's novel The Double, came right before the run of high-concept genre work -- Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, Dune -- that made his reputation, and already carries the same interest in doubled identity and ambiguous, deliberately unresolved endings.
