Director
Shane Carruth
American filmmaker born in 1972. A former engineer with no formal film training, he wrote, directed, produced, scored, edited, and starred in Primer (2004), made on a reported budget of about $7,000 -- one of the lowest-budget films ever to win the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, and a byword for time-travel plots built on rigorous internal logic instead of audience-friendly exposition.
